Meeting Simon Tolkein, grandson of J.R. Tolkein
I met Simon Tolkein recently. Yes, the grandson of THE famous J. R. Tolkein. Simon was the keynote speaker at the Orange County Christian Writer’s Conference. We all wondered what it must be like to be related to such a wonderful writer. Simon told about his experiences–that his grandfather was a wonderful man, but what stopped Simon from writing? THE SHADOW of his famous grandfather was huge. Until finally one day, he decided to try his hand at fiction. The rest is history.
In his former life, he was a solicitor, and a barrister in England. He married an American and now resides in the Santa Barbara, California area.
